TVGW Tours by Nexa – Marco Franzato: ARTISTIC STAINED GLASS WINDOWS, A HARMONY OF STUNNING TECHNIQUES (Venice)

The TVGW Tours by Nexa will feature Marco Franzato and the ancient art of stained-glass windows – the first evidence of Venetian stained-glass production dates back to the thirteenth century – using tiles of Murano glass, assembled to produce figures, drawings and images in his workshop in the heart of Venice.

September 9th and 16th – VENICE

Marco is a creator of stained glass and an extraordinary interpreter of the combination of glass and metals. He expresses himself through glass, stained-glass windows, and their techniques, from the oldest ones such as leaded panels or the use of grisaille – a type of painting that 'bleaches' the glass to create volume; to the Tiffany technique, which eliminates lead in favour of tin by applying a thin strip of copper foil on the cut glass, to give greater definition and elegance to the final work. We can't wait to discover together again this year the stained-glass workshop to witness the work of those who have combined their skills with those of the great craftsmen of the past. Wise craftsman but also restaurator who worked on very precious ancient stained glass windows, such as those in the Doge's Palace and Palladio's Church of the Redentore.
